ATHLETES, coaches, and sports officials have been raving about the work done at the New Clark City Sports Complex in time for the staging of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
After doing a series of test events on the track layout at the NCC Athletics Stadium in Capas, Tarlac, the national athletics team has expressed optimism it could come up with a strong performance in the Nov. 30 to Dec. 11 biennial meet.
Leading sports solutions provider E-Sports International was tapped by lead developer MTD Philippines, a major SEA Games partner, to ensure the construction of a cutting-edge competition track, warm-up track, and athletic performance gym that will serve as the training hub of the Filipino athletes.
To date, the 14,000 square meter competition track has been awarded a Class 1 Certification by the International Association of Athletics Federation.
“It’s very inspiring to hear that the facilities we installed are making favorable impact to our athletes,” Audris Romualdez, president of E-Sports International, said yesterday during the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum at the Amelie Hotel Manila.
“We worked diligently to provide tracks and gym facilities that meet the highest quality standards and can match Olympic venues nationwide. By providing world-class facilities, our athletes are able to leverage on tools that will help them excel in their sport and unlock their full potential.”
E-Sports General Manager Pam Romualdez also graced the weekly session presented by San Miguel Corp., Braska Restaurant, Amelie Hotel, and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. together with Nikko David, president of MTD Philippines.
“We confidently believed our partners would meet the delivery schedule and certification standards for the NCC Athletics Stadium,” said David via Skype. “But the overwhelming approval of the athletes and coaches when they experienced the new facilities, these exceeded our expectations.”
As a personal advocacy, David donated 99 gates of SmarTracks for the warm-up running track. SmarTracks is a state-of-the-art performance diagnostic system that accurately tracks and monitors the athlete’s performance through magnetic gates integrated within the tracks’ surface.
