    Fresher quality air from Panasonic

    Panasonic donated its window-type air conditioner (CW-XC185EPH) with Comfort Cool and Anti-bacterial Filter to support safer air in patient wards and nurses’ stations of 10 selected local medical institutions.

    Donations were made on Oct. 4, when Panasonic Air-Conditioning Philippines chief executive officer Masaru Toyota personally turned over the units to Dr. Vincent Balanag Jr., executive director of the Lung Center of the Philippines.

    Panasonic window-type air conditioners were also donated to the San Lazaro Hospital; Manila Doctors Hospital; Manila Medical Center Hospital; San Juan de Dios Hospital; Adventist Medical Center; Rizal Medical Center; Philippine General Hospital ; National Kidney and Transplant Institute and Mary Mediatrix Medical Center.

    Support to Pisay students

    Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has started to provide connectivity and digital support to students of the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) at four provincial learning hubs to help enable blended learning in the country’s top science high school amid the pandemic.

    In a virtual signing ceremony held recently, Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy, with Converge president Maria Grace Uy, signed a memorandum of agreement with PSHS Foundation Inc. chairman, Dr. Reynaldo Vea, to deliver free internet access for PSHS scholars.

    The four PSHS Learning Hubs being supported by Converge are located at DOST offices in Sevilla, San Fernando City, La Union; Caoayan Kiling, San Carlos City, Pangasinan; Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya and Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

    The connectivity and digital support provided by Converge to the Learning Hubs will allow students to connect to the Knowledge Hubs, enabling them to participate in classes, access learning modules, and take quizzes and examinations.

    GBP best practices recognized

    Global Business Power Corp.’s (GBP) generation plants were recently cited for their operations and maintenance best practices by the Asean Coal Awards 2021 in a virtual ceremony held last month.

    The bi-annual awards, organized by the Asean Centre for Energy (ACE), recognize the private sector’s participation in energy development in the region.

    Panay Energy Development Corp. (PEDC), Cebu Energy Development Corp. (CEDC) and Toledo Power Co.(TPC) were jointly awarded in the Best Practices Clean Coal Use and Technology (CCT) Category for Medium (100-500 MW) Power Generation. PEDC won first runner-up for its Boiler Tube Management Program, while CEDC and TPC together won second runner-up for their Preventive Maintenance Interval Optimization Program.

    Both the PEDC and CEDC plants utilize circulating fluidized bed boiler technology that produces very low levels of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide and captures most of the particulate matter. PEDC has a total capacity of 314 MW through its power plants in La Paz, Iloilo City, while CEDC and TPC have a combined capacity of 388 MW from its generating plants in Toledo City in Cebu.
