STUNG by a previous loss, La Salle bounced back to nip Adamson University yesterday 2-1 in the UAAP Season 82 men’s football tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Sophomore winger Mikio Umilin stood out as the Green Archers’ spark plug, scoring the winning goal in the 64th minute.
In the other match, defending champion Ateneo swamped University of Santo Tomas 6-1, with skipper Nino Herrera scoring a brace with markers in the 10th and 27th minutes, respectively, for the Blue Eagle booters.
“If you noticed in the second half, Adamson hardly had a scrimmage inside our penalty box,” said La Salle head coach Hans-Peter Smit. “So all we had to do is just to finish the game.”
The Falcons appeared poised in pulling off an upset against their multi-titled rivals as Bryce Rabino scored the icebreaker in the 31st minute for a 1-0 lead at the break.
