Villar still richest senator with P3.8B net worth


    IT will be hard to knock her out as number one.

    Sen. Cynthia Villar, the matriarch of the family that owns vast lands of shopping malls, housing and condominium buildings all over the country, remains the most moneyed senator among the current batch, her 2019 Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) showed.

    In her SALN disclosure, Villar listed her net worth at P3,814,091,438, with zero liabilities as of December 31, 2019.

    Records show that in 2017, Villar had a net worth of P3,611,260,766. The year after, or in 2018, she disclosed that her family’s financial worth had gone up to P3,719,941,858.

    The 2019 SALN of senators was posted in the official website of the Philippine Senate.

    The second richest senator is boxer-turned-lawmaker Sen. Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao, whose net worth was listed at P3,172,524,957 also as of December 2019. However, the sports legend listed a P356,059,919 in liabilities.

    Senate president pro tempore Ralph Recto came in third with a net worth of P567,438,429; followed by Senate majority leader Juan Miguel Zubiri who is worth P203,667,746. Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. came in next with a net worth of P176,363,262.

    Sen. Juan Edgardo Angara said his family’s net worth was P142,212,659; Senate minority leader Franklin Drilon, P102,259,501; Sen. Grace Poe with P97,631,508; Sherwin Gatchalian at P85,404,344; Pia Cayetano with P82,774,150; and Senate President Vicente Sotto III at P77,772,861.
