Lovi in all her glory

LOVI Poe is thankful that Regal, with whom she has a contract, has allowed her to do a movie with Viva, “Hindi Tayo Pwede,” which is now slated to be shown on March 4.
This love triangle movie also gives the Kapuso actress the chance to work with two new leading men, Marco Gumabao and Tony Labrusca, who are both from ABS-CBN. So how is it working with them?

“Pareho silang masarap katrabaho,” she says at the movie’s press con at Botejyu Fisher Mall last Saturday night. “They both showed the right emotions required in every scene. First time ko to act with both of them and it’s super fun kasi pareho silang maalaga.”
She has love scenes with both of them.

“They’re both gentlemen. Si Marco, nakasama ko na sa ilang shows and campaigns and this is our first movie. He plays my best friend, Dennis. Si Tony naman plays Gab, my boyfriend, kaya lang, may nangyari sa kanya before our wedding. Lahat kami, we all just complied sa pinagawa sa amin ng director namin, Joel Lamangan. I was comfortable naman with both of them kasi they’re very respectful, not just to me but sa lahat ng kasama namin sa set.”

How would she describe “Hindi Tayo Pwede”?

“I’m really excited with this movie and so proud of it kasi it’s a very different kind of love story. As you can see sa trailer, si Tony is a ghost. Kasi I couldn’t let go of him, so hindi matahimik ang kaluluwa niya and he returns to me as a spirit, pero ako lang ang nakakakita sa kanya. Si Marco naman is very devoted to me as my best friend na matagal na palang may secret love for me, but he couldn’t express it kasi nga alam niyang kami na ni Tony.”

In her last movie, “The Annulment,” she also had sexy love scenes with Joem Bascon and some people are now calling her a sexy star. How does she feel about it?

“I don’t really think of myself as sexy. But I do sexy love scenes that are tastefully done, lalo na when the director is someone you can trust, like director Joel Lamangan, who gave me my FAMAS best actress award for the movie ‘Sagrada Familia’.”

At this point, Direk Joel himself butts in: “May mga gustong magpa-sexy, hindi naman sila maging sexy kahit anong gawin nila. Si Lovi, biniyayaan siya kaya naturally sexy siya without even trying, at ‘yung kaseksihan niya, mapapanood nyo rito sa ‘Hindi Tayo Pwede’ in all its glory. Watch it when it opens on March 4 to find out.”

Mikael Daez says his wedding to Megan Young was not rushed.

“Akala ng iba, biglaan lang, but it’s not,” he says. “We really wanted it to be intimate. We first met in a fashion show in 2010 where she’s the host and I’m one of the models. The following year, we became officially on. So before we got married, nine years na kaming on and we’ve already travelled together to so many foreign places so we can now say we really know each other na. Also, we’re of the right age. I’m 32, she’s 29, so we’re not just taking the plunge without knowing what we’re getting into. Wala pa ako sa showbiz when we met each other. 2011 when GMA-7 got me to be with Marian Rivera in ‘Amaya.’ We both know then na mas priority namin ang careers namin so we agreed to be discreet about our relationship and we kept it a secret. When she became Miss World in 2013, kami na. That was the time I was paired with Andrea Torres at nag-click ang tambalan namin so nagkasunod-sunod ang soaps namin. Secret pa rin ang relationship namin. I was the one who finally admitted it in 2017 and by the time when we were paired in ‘The Stepdaughters,’ which was a hit as it ran on the air for about a year, mas open na kami sa relasyon namin.”

And now, life goes on for them as husband and wife. They’re both busy with their respective soaps. He is in the current hit primetime drama, “Love of My Life,” while Megan is currently working with Dennis Trillo, Alice Dixson and Bianca Umali in the forthcoming “Legal Wives.”

“We’re both busy with our respective soaps but we always try to find time for each other,” he says. “Right now, mas tumaas pa ang rating ng ‘Love of My Life,’ which is already doing well in the surveys, dahil sa pagpasok ni Rhian Ramos as the single mother whose son was sired pala by my brother in the story, Tom Rodriguez, kaya may conflict sila ni Carla Abellana na siyang legal wife. So expect more sparks to fly sa bawat eksena.”

Vicky Morales is one of our most broadcast journalists. It’s hard to believe she’s been almost 30 years in the business as she doesn’t look a day older than when we first met her when she joined GMA News “Headline” in 1991. She took up management in college then auditioned at GMA where she became a broadcast journalist.

She was still very much single then. Now, she’s married to Atty. King Reyno and the mother of twin boys, Leon and Luis, who’ll be turning 12 on March 19, and a daughter, Simone, who’s 8 years old. She juggles her time with work and being a wife and mother.

She did “Saksi” before being transferred to GMA’s “24 Oras.” For 17 years now, she’s also been hosting the Saturday docu-drama, “Wish Ko Lang,” which has fulfilled the wishes of viewers in many tear-jerking episodes.

Vicky now takes on a new role as the “Ate ng Bayan” in her new show, “Ilaban Natin ‘Yan!,” that replaces “Wish Ko Lang.” In “Ilaban Natin ‘Yan!”, she will help people in conflict to settle or resolve their issues by reaching out to the grassroots in the barangays.

“Ibang-iba siya sa mga dating ginagawa ko,” says Vicky. “Para sa atin lahat itong show na ito. Kapupulutan natin ng aral at matutuwa pa tayo. Hindi lang namin kayo pakikinggan, dahil kung anuman ang problema nyo, ilalaban natin ‘yan!”

Gabby Eigenmann is very pleased to be given the chance to work with Nora Aunor in GMA-7’s afternoon adaptation of the film “Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit.”

“I play Arthur, a businessman who falls in love with Mylene Dizon as Magnolia and helps her succeed in her own business,” he says. “My role was originally played by the late Miguel Rodriguez. Later on, I will also help Mylene in her desire to get revenge sa mga umapi sa kanilang pamilya noong araw, sina Zoren Legaspi, Ina Feleo and Isabel Rivas.

“I’m truly excited to be given the chance to work with these great actors, especially with the one and only superstar, Miss Nora Aunor.”

He’s happy he doesn’t play a contravida role. “Sanay na ang viewers natin watching me do villain roles, but here, may chance na maawa sila sa character ko kasi I’m so devoted to Mylene and tries my best to help her but she doesn’t seem to reciprocate my feelings,” he adds.
